    Description

Listed is U. S. Navy - Frigate 1815 as depicted by Werner Drewes of Werner Publishing. Werner works have been exhibited everywhere from the Prado in Madrid to the Smithsonian. Werner Drewes was known for his exceptional skill in lithography in his lifetime and this is a print of one taken from "The United States Army and Navy" published in 1899 by Werner himself.
We purchased this and other lithographs from an auction and the previous owner did some research and noted it on the back of cardboard.  Here's what he noted:  One of the 45 colored portraits from the 120 year old "US Army and Navy" (also Marines" "1776-1899" mega book of over 140 pages - color prints are on paper 13" by 17" - color prints 9" x13".  These prints cover War & Peace from 1776-1899 - Revolution 1812, Civil War, Indian Wars, Spanish American War and Peace Time.
    Very Good Condition:
Right lower corner has damage. Lithograph has been preserved on a cardboard back with plastic covering.  This lithograph is Picture #28 (1 of 45) on Page 117
This publishing is rather rare in itself and now it's contents are standardly sold as stand alone items. These lithographs are known for their attention to detail as well as the beautiful color schemes. The print itself is 9"x13" and approximately 13.5"x17" when you include the border. This print will frame beautifully for anyone who has a passion for collecting military history. You will find this price is very competitive when compared to other Ebay prices as well as other seller venues.
